Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited was established in 1962. Initially, it was conceived as an agency for supply of raw materials to SSI Units and also to extend marketing assistance to these units in selling their products.

Over the years, MSSIDC has grown to become India's leading Small Scale Industries Development Corporation, continuously responding to the expanding and diversified needs of Small Scale Industries, with growing emphasis on assisting village and cottage industries, providing support services like Consultancy, Counseling, Marketing, Training in technical and managerial aspects, Commercial Warehousing, Exports. Imports, Entrepreneurship Development Programme etc.

The basic objective was to help the small scale Industries to develop and grow to the fullest extent enabling them to play their role towards realization of the national objective of accelerating the place of Industrial Development ,generation of employment and income.

For bringing in a revolutionary change in the quality of  life of the people in general.

MSSIDC started with a share capital of Rs. 10 lakhs in 1963-64 and its turnover was Rs.86.57 lakhs. The corporation's paid up capital is 9.13 crores and authorized share capital is Rs 10 Crores. 

What has made this tremendous growth and expansion possible is the dedicated  team of over 284 employees of MSSIDC, implementing various innovative plans and schemes developed by the Corporation's management team and monitoring them on a continuous basis.

The corporation gives tremendous weight-age to Human Resources Development and constantly runs courses and training programmes for staff developments. The Corporation takes care of the needs of its employees and has introduced various Welfare schemes like Housing. Education and medical assistance etc. for them
