PRESS RELEASE - TAIWAN DESIRES MSSIDC TO ACT AS THEIR EPRESENTATIVE India International Trade Fair, 2002 MSSIDC organizes the Maharashtra pavilion at the India
International Trade Fair, (IITF), Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, every year,
on behalf of Government of Maharashtra. The IITF provides a great
opportunity for industry to explore new markets in INDIA and abroad
giving an opportunity to reach out to more than 10,000 business delegates
and over 30 lakh visitors from India & abroad. Duration of the IITF
is from 14th November to 27 November, every year. This
prestigious annual event is a multi product, multi sectorial fair,
providing business opportunities for a wide range of products,
technology and service and diverse area. The Maharashtra pavilion is situated at prominent place
near Gate No 3 of Pragati Maidan and is at a junction where there is
maximum accessibility. It has access from two roads, one leading towards
ITPO office and another towards the main hall of IITF All state of India participate in IITF and project the
respective State’s industrial development and growth in all sectors.
Their participation is complimented by a large number of public private
sector firms. Bitumen Distributorship Ministry of Petroleum, Govt of India, recently arrived at a
Policy Decision whereby the public sector oil corporations to utilize
the services of SSIDCs for the distribution of Bitumen in their
respective states through the infrastructure available
with them created for the distribution of various raw materials
during the regulatory syatem. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. a major public
sector company of Govt of India responding to the above policy decision
has agreed to entrust the distributorship of Bitumen to MSSIDC in the
State Maharashtra in operating the distributorship from their stock
points at Sewree and Kalamboli. This additional dealership is going to
strengthen the ties with IOCL as also benefit customers as well as IOCL
and MSSIDC. MSSIDC and IOCL has entered into the agreement on 24th
September 2002 to effect the dealership/distributorship arrangement Visit of Mr. Richard Bond, Faculty Member, University of
Manchester, U.K. to MSSIDC’s Trimourti Emporium, WTC, Mumbai Mr. Richard Bond, a free land consultant and a faculty
member of the Institute for Development and Policy Management (IDPM),
University of Manchester, U.K. visited the “Trimourti Emporium” at
World Trade Centre, Colaba, Mumbai, on Friday, 30th August
2002. He and his colleagues were highly impressed with the Exhibition-cum-Sale
of Ganesh Idols, Icons and other articles of small craftsmen and
artisans displayed there. They Stayed there for about an hour with MD,
MSSIDC, Dr. Vijay Satbir Singh, and other officials of the corporations
welcomed Mr. Bond and briefed him about various activities of the
Corporation and Emporia Visit to Chinese Delegates to MSSIDC Mumbai on 19th
August 2002 A Chinese Export Commodities Fair commonly known as Canton
Fair Delegation led by their Vice Chairman & Secretary Mr. Hu
Chusheng and Commercial Councel of Consulate General Of the people’s
Republic of China in MUMBAI Mr. Zao Quangmao and the staff of Foreign
Liason Department of CHINA visited Head office of MSSIDC on 19th
August 2002.The Chinese Trade Fair Delegation was welcomed by Dr. Vijay
Satbir Singh, I.A.S., MD, MSSIDC who apprised the delegation members
about the developmental role played by MSSIDC in the State of
Maharashtra for last four
decades. The Chinese delegates mainly discussed the areas of trade
collaboration and co-operation with businessmen of Maharashtra. The
delegates showed their keen interest in strengthening the trade
relations with the entrepreneurs of Maharashtra. MSSIDC also showed it’s interest in helping S.S.I. units
in promoting their exports by way of facilitating the access to
international market through organization like Chinese trade fair doing substantial
work in this area. MSSIDC also plans to organize trade fairs and
exhibitions to disseminate the information related to future trade
prospects for the benefit and development of entrepreneurs in expanding
their market horizons. The secretary General, Canton Fair assured MD, MSSIDC that all possible help/co-operation shall be extended to Indian Trade Delegation visiting China and particularly the Canton Fair which is bi annual event participated by around 1.25 lakh visitors and having trade turnover of US $ 16.85 Billion All India Ganesh Idol Exhibition organized by MSSIDC at its Trimourti Emporia MSSIDC through its Trimourti Emporia organizes ‘All India
Ganesh Idol & Icons exhibition every year. This festive event is
being sucessessfully organized in the state as well as New Delhi for the
past 18 years and has been appreciated by people from all walks of life
and is eagerly awaited by many. Lord Ganesh has special significance and vital importance
for the people of Maharashtra and the Ganesh festival is celebrated in
large scale with pomp and grandeur in the state of Maharashtra. Ganesh idols and icons from all over the country are kept
here on display and sale. Various types of idols made of plaster of
paris, clay, metals like copper, brass, silver and bronze, etc glass,
paper machine, wood ceramic, terracotta, fiberglass. Copper meenakari.
Precious and semi precious stones ranging from Rs. 5/- to Rs. 1.00 lakh
give a wide choice to customers. There are about 8 to 9 thousand idols
on display including 800 to 900 idols meant for puja. The corporation
mobilizes Rs. 15.00 lakhs for the idol artisans. The exhibition-cum-sale at mumbai was inaugurated by Mr.
Jaydatta Sonajirao Kshirsagar, Minister for Industries, Parliamentary
Affairs, Protocol, Govt of Maharashtra, on 29th August 2002
whereas similar exhibition-cum-sale was inaugurated at Delhi by Mr. Ajit
Nimbalkar, I.A.S., Secretary, Defence Production & supplies, Govt of
India, on 28th August 2002. On both the occasions, MD, MSSIDC
appraised the chief guest on the event as also the other handicraft
items of Maharashtra. Hon’ble Mr. Patangrao Kadam, Minister for Industries,
Govt of Maharashtra visited the Exhibition-cum Sale of Ganesh Idols and
Icons at MSSIDC’s Trimourti Maharashtra Emporium, World Trade Centre,
Mumbai on 4th September 2002 and appreciated the exhibition
and suggested that, the corporation should arrange more exhibitions of
craftitems of the state. The minister also informed during the press
meet arranged on the occasions that, the Corporation is now under the
control of the Industry Department and is exploring the various
possibilities of assisting the artisans and craftsmen of the state
through such exhibitions at Mumbai
and Delhi. Dr. Singh, MD., MSSIDC while replying to the queries
of the press explained in detail the various Ganesh Icons of different
States exhibited at both the emporia in Mumbai and Delhi. While apprising the Hon’ble Minister, MD informed that the sale of Ganesh Idols and Icons was Rs. 15 lakhs last year. Considering the response received till date, sales are expected to be around Rs. 20 to Rs. 25 lakhs. Annual sales of handicraft items through the emporia was Rs 3.50 Crores last year. Infuture, in addition to the existing emporia, more outlets are planned at prominent places like Pune, Thane, Kolhapur etc for boosting sales on account of Idols, Icons and other handicraft items. Office Space available shall also be utilized for display of artistic, decorative and aesthetic items for its wider display and sale. Director of the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development
Corporation (MSSIDC), Dr. Singh joined the Indian Administrative
services in 1984. He has graduated in Medicines and completed his
Masters in Economics at the
institute for development policy and management , University of
Manchester. He has served as Jt. Managing Director, CIDCO, Project
Manger of World Bank Assisted Projected in Public Health and collector
of Amravati District before his present appointment
